Oasis High School provides a small school setting which promotes a more enriching and rewarding high school experience for our students. We feature rigorous curriculum and programs of study in a safe, supportive environment. Students are encouraged to balance coursework with participation in the many sports programs, clubs, and activities found on campus, to help foster a well-rounded education. School and community service hours are also required to foster a sense civic engagement, pride in our community, as well as develop social and academic skills outside of the classroom. Oasis High School aims to develop life-long learners who are prepared for attending college, successfully entering the workplace, and meeting the challenges of the twenty-first century. The following two programs are the means to achieve that goal:
The Cambridge AICE Program
This prestigious program features an advanced academic curriculum and assessment program that has been written and administered by the University of Cambridge in England for over 170 years. Students can earn an international diploma that is widely recognized by colleges and universities worldwide.
Curriculum
9th and 10th Grade:
Pre-AICE (Cambridge IGCSE) courses emphasize the development of higher order thinking skills, oral skills, writing skills, problem solving, real world applications, independent investigative skills, teamwork, and international understanding. Assessment methods include written examinations, laboratory practicals for the science subjects, oral and listening tests for the languages, and coursework projects. These courses help students to become independent thinkers and learners.
11th and 12th Grade:
The AICE (Cambridge AS and A level courses) program offers rigorous coursework that encourages high academic standards and is recognized by universities worldwide. The AICE program offers a flexible curriculum which can be tailored to meet a student's interests, abilities, and future needs. The curriculum is offered in three main subject groups:
- Mathematics and Sciences
- Languages
- Arts and Humanities
Though students must take at least one course from each area of study, they may choose to concentrate the majority of coursework in the area that would best prepare them for their future endeavors. Each course requires taking embedded exams, and for each exam passed, students may receive up to 30 hours of college credit.
The AICE Diploma
The AICE diploma is an international secondary diploma that is recognized by colleges and universities throughout the world. To receive the AICE diploma, students must pass six credits worth of exams. Through this program, students may be awarded up to 30 hours worth of college credit based on course exams passed. Students receiving the AICE diploma automatically qualify for 100% tuition to state universities through the Florida Bright Futures Scholars Program.
