John Omundsen |
| My name is Caileigh Minihan, and I'm a Junior at Oasis High School. About three years ago, I moved from Boston, Massachusetts to here in Cape Coral, with three years of enrollment at Boston Latin School under my belt. Just like any other normal teenager, I love to spend time with my friends, listen to music, and goof off, but I also know when it's time to be serious and apply myself to my schoolwork. I try to stay as active as I can in school organizations, so I hold positions as co-planner for the Homecoming Committee, the Treasurer for National Honor Society, as well as one of the student representatives for Oasis High School's Relay For Life team. My utmost favorite subject area is Science, but out of all of my classes this year, my favorites are Culinary Arts and Graphic Arts & Design. Culinary Arts has helped me to choose my career path, and Graphic Arts has helped me to explore and enhance my artistic abilities, taking them literally from pen and paper to digitalization and advertisements. After I graduate from Oasis next year, as part of the inaugural class, I plan on attending Johnson and Wales University where I hope to get my Associates Degree in Culinary Arts, my Bachelors Degree in Hospitality and Management, and then top it all off with receiving my Masters in Business Management. I love to cook, and I'm so grateful that Oasis offered such an enriching program this year; if it weren't for moving from Boston to Cape Coral, and attending Oasis High School, I never would have dreamed of being so sure of my career choice in my Junior year. |

Mr. Omundsen was born in Staten Island, New York but has lived in Florida since he was 4 years old. He grew up in Cape Coral and graduated from Fort Myers High School from the IB Program. He attended the University of Florida where he received his bachelors degree in mathematics and was one of the valedictorians of his graduating class. He also received his masters of education degree in mathematics education from UF. In his first year teaching, Mr. Omundsen taught 7th grade math at Oasis Middle. He currently teaches all levels of 8th grade math as well as high school geometry. He tries to make learning math as applicable and as meaningful to his students as possible, always reminding them that "Math is everything!". This is currently his 2nd year teaching and his 2nd year in the Cape Charter School System of schools. Mr. Omundsen is also the sponsor of the 8th grade math team club and was the assistant coach of the Oasis Middle Boy's Soccer team this past year. |
